Come On Irene

With Hurricane Irene travelling up the East Coast we took Anna to the pool today. With only a few people there we had the entire outdoor pool and park to ourselves. Bossy Anna had both Marty and me happily jumping in with her. Before we left we sampled the recently refilled indoor pool where Anna was swimming without any help. She only went a couple of feet but we were so proud of her!

Martha's Vineyard

We had a wonderful vacation to Martha's Vineyard last week. We enjoyed every second of the beautiful weather. Anna had a blast at the beach. Her favorite beach was South Beach with the big waves. When the waves knocked us both down she came up with a big smile on her face. The highlight of the week was a ride on the Flying Horses Carousel.

Photo Shoot

During her visit Natasha offered to take Anna's photo and a few family shots too. Marty and I can't thank her enough. She got some wonderful photos. I know its August but I am already thinking of our Christmas card. So you will have to wait until December to see our favorites. I'm not sure any other photographer could have captured the photos like Natasha. She was so patient with Anna and just had fun with her. Anna lasted longer than Marty on the beach. He and Jack left us to go watch the Yankee-Red Sox game. Grammy would be so proud of us girls staying until sunset. The picture I posted earlier of Marty and Anna was taken by Natasha too.

Before we headed to the beach Anna refused to wear what I picked out. I wanted her to wear a seersucker, smocked dress with lobsters embroidered but she wanted to wear the Lilly dress. As most of you know Anna has a mind of her own. And I will admit this time she was right. The bright colors of her dress looked amazing with the beach setting.

Daddy's Girl

Today Anna told me she was sad because she wanted to see Daddy. Marty has been in San Diego this week so Anna hasn't seen him since Sunday. We were out shopping getting ready for our Martha's Vineyard vacation so I asked what would make you happy Anna? First she said Daddy hugs. I suggested I give her a hug and she replied no Mommy hugs. So I asked again. Then she said go to the beach and play on the slide while pointing in the correct direction to York. And Anna made a great decision because it is a fabulous beach day. We jumped in the waves for an hour and just as we were leaving we found a starfish. We watched part of Finding Nemo this morning and she was so excited to find Nemo's friend. We spent some time on the slide until Anna announced she was sad again. We left and she was chatting away. Out of nowhere she asked if Anna and Daddy could go get some pizza. I'm thinking Daddy needs to have a date night with his little girl this weekend!

More Beach Time

Anna is really enjoying her beach time this summer. We were lucky to head back to Cape Cod last weekend. Mark, Natasha and the boys visited from North Carolina and Marty's Uncle Charles offered us his beach house in Brewster for the weekend. We took long walks on the flats at low tide in the morning and cooled off in the bay in the afternoon. Anna had so much fun learning to play wiffle ball and soccer with her cousins. Jack, Charlie and Harry tried very hard to convert Anna to a Red Sox fan but I am proud to say she did not give in. Harry almost took an evening dip in the water after getting Anna to say "boo Yankees".

Just Chillin

Harry and Jack wouldn't sit with Anna on the Yankee towel because they didn't want to be seen at traders to the Sox.

Jack realized the towel was better than the sand but Charlie didn't agree.

Seabrook

Thank you Anthony and Laura for letting us crash your family vacation last week. We enjoyed the hot, hot beach day. We even went into the cold New Hampshire water more than once. I'm not sure if the kids spent more time playing or eating but they had fun together like always.
